Alpaca Hair has all the qualities of Mohair and Llama Hair. The washing and care instructions are quite similar.

To Wash

Fill the sink or tub with warm water and add a very small amount of fiber wash. Coil mecates or reins and complete submerge and mix until clean. Remove rope and refill container with clean water. Submerge rope again and repeat until no soap remains. Leave coiled to dry or hang by ends. Use caution to not kink or pull to tightly. Natural hair will take on the form of how it is laid when drying. Will stiffen when wet and will dry softer each time you wash. Condition leather popper after cleaning.

During Use

When using on bosal/hackamore or snaffle bit with slobbers we recommend untying after each use (except if the mecate gets wet on the slobbers let it dry on the bridle before removing it). Hanging in large coils allowing to dry.

Never remove popper - if any problem arises with popper return to us for repair.
